Hardware faucet components and their functions

1. Spool/cartridge

The cartridge is the core component of the faucet. Its function is to control the opening and closing of the water flow. At present, the valve core in the market is divided into four categories:

(3) Single-function quick-opening ceramic cartridge

(4) Thermostatic cartridge

2. Faucet Body

The faucet uses low-lead copper as the main raw material, which is truly low-lead and environmentally friendly. Different from ordinary brass, it is corrosion-resistant and can keep the surface bright for a long time. Lead is a substance that is harmful to the human body. At present, many leading products on the market use brass or even recycled copper. Its composition is very complex and contains lead. The amount of lead is generally 3.5%-5%. Lead is a heavy metal and cannot be decomposed into the human body. When accumulated to a certain amount, it will cause great damage to the central nervous system of the brain. Tests have shown that people with high lead content in the body are prone to old age. Dementia, the intellectual development of children with high content is also significantly lower than that of children with normal development.

3. Faucet Handle

Common faucet handles on the market include copper handles and zinc alloy handles.

Copper handles are generally used for high-end faucet products, with stable properties and high prices;

Zinc alloy handles cover high, medium and low-end faucets, and are the most commonly used, with stable properties and lower prices than copper handles.

There are some low-end and cheap ABS plastics and iron handles on the market, which are generally used for quick-opening, Angle Valves and other products, with inferior quality and low price.

Another very few faucet products use ceramic handles, which are heavy and difficult to install and maintain, and are easy to break.

4. bubbler/aerator

The function of the aerator is to control the shape, pressure and flow rate of the water flow from the water outlet.

There are two types of aerator, one is a bubble type aerator, and the other is a clear flow type aerator. The difference between the bubble aerator is that the side of the filter ring is designed with an annular groove for air to enter. The aerator does not have this slot.

The function of the aerator is to instantly reduce the water pressure and make the water spray out from the surrounding evenly, so that the water energy and the air entering the ring groove of the splitter ring are evenly mixed and shot to the filter screen, and the water is milky white after hitting the filter screen.
