Analysis and Treatment of Thermostatic Shower Malfunction.

Conditions of using Thermostatic Mixer Shower:


1. Lacking of water supply pressure: mainly supporting solar water heaters. The solar water heaters do not have pressure itself. The pressure formed by the gap between the water heater and the shower leads to a large pressure difference with the cold water;

2. Lacking of water supply temperature: the water supply temperature of the hot water itself is not enough, below 50℃;

3. Impurities: The remaining sediment and impurities in the pipeline are not cleaned, and the thermostatic valve core piston is stuck, which makes it impossible to adjust the temperature. At present, more than 90% reasons of thermostatic showers on the market do not produce hot water, which is caused by the trapped sand inside the valve core.

4. Gas water heater: The primary temperature setting of the gas water heater does not match. The default setting temperature of the new type water heater is generally 38-40℃.


Analysis of thermostatic malfunction:


A, only hot water is produced, and the water temperature is very high (no low temperature)

1. No cold water

1. Check whether the cold water inlet supplied water normally.

2. Turn the faucet on, turn the thermostatic handle clockwise to the lowest temperature, check the water outlet situation, and see if there is cold water coming out.

2. The cold water eccentrics or the washer is clogged

Check whether water is flowing through the bent feet at the cold water end.

3. The thermostatic cartridge fails

In the case of water supply normally conditions, no matter how to adjust thermostatic handle, all hot water is output, unless it is screwed to the end of the coldest water end, the output is all cold water, and the water output is also very small.

4. The cold water inlet part of the thermostatic spool is blocked

The thermostatic cartridge cold water inlet filter is blocked or the plunger is stuck






B. Only cold water is discharged, and it is also cold water at high temperature (no high temperature)

1. No hot water

1. Check whether the water supply to the hot water inlet is normal. 2. Turn off the cold water inlet, turn on the switch, turn the thermostatic handle counterclockwise to the highest temperature, and see whether there is hot water coming out of the outlet.

2. The temperature of the water supply and hot water is not high enough

The temperature of the hot water supply should be above 55 degrees (such as gas water heaters, check whether the flame is turned off-ignition)

3. The thermostatic cartridge hot water inlet is blocked

The thermostatic cartridge hot water inlet filter is blocked or the plunger is stuck

C, only cold water and warm water are output, the water output above 38℃ is not hot (no high temperature)

1. Hot water pressure is too low

Check whether the water pressure of the hot water supply is lower than the cold water pressure by more than 3-5 times.

2. The hot water curve foot is not fully opened or the washer is blocked

Check whether the hot water curved foot and the washer are normal

3. The hot water supply temperature is not high enough

Check the temperature of the hot water supply

4. Sediment and impurities entered the thermostatic cartridge

Turn the thermostatic handle to the 38 degree position, turn off the hot water supply, and check the water output status. 1. No water or small water output that the thermostatic cartridge is normal. 2. There will be a lot of water that the mud has entered cartridge and the plunger is stuck.

D, only warm water and hot water are supplied. The outlet water is not cold below 38°C (no low temperature)

1. The cold water pressure is too low

Check the cold water supply

2. Cold water curved feet or clogged filter

Check whether the cold water curve foot and filter gasket are normal

3. The thermostatic cartridge enters the sediment

Turn the thermostatic handle to 38 degrees, turn off the cold water supply, and check the water output. 1. No water or small that the thermostatic cartridge is normal. 2. Larger water will come out that the thermostatic cartridge has entered mud or impurities, the cartridge filter is blocked or the plunger is stuck.

E. The hot water at the position of 38 degrees is hot water, the cold water end is hot water, and the hot water end is cold water, so the temperature cannot be adjusted.

Reverse connection of cold and hot water pipes

1. Turn on the thermostatic faucet, touch the curved foot, and check whether the left side is hot and the right side is cold.

2. There is only one type of water, and it is hot water at 38 degrees. Rotate the handle to the hottest end to the end, and all cold water will come out. Return to the 38 degree and let out cold water. Rotate the handle to the coldest end to the end, all that comes out is hot water, and the one that comes back to the 38 degree is hot water. The temperature cannot be adjusted in the middle, if it can be adjusted to a stable temperature, it will change after a while.

F, no water or small water flow

1. Hot and cold water supply

1. Check whether the hot and cold water inlets supply water normally. 2. Turn on the switch, turn the thermostatic handle clockwise to the lowest temperature, check the water outlet situation, and see if there is cold water coming out. Screw it to the hot water end to see the hot water output.

2. The cold water is not supplied or the hot water is not supplied

There will be small flow or no water

3. The thermostatic cartridge fails

In the case of normal water supply conditions, no matter how the thermostatic handle adjusts the water flow rate is small, mainly caused by the blockage of the cartridge.

4. The water inlet part of the thermostatic spool is blocked

The thermostatic cartridge cold water inlet filter is blocked or the plunger is stuck

G, there is no water at 38 degrees, the cold water end is normal or small, and the hot water end has no or very small water.

Hot water without water supply

1. Check whether the hot water supply is normal, and whether the water heater is normal (water supply, temperature).

2. Check whether the bent foot of the hot water end is blocked and affects the normal water flow.

H, 38 degrees position has no or very small water output, the hot water end has normal or small water output, and the cold water end has no or very small water output.

No water supply for cold water

1. Check whether the cold water is supplied normally.

2. Check whether the bent foot of the cold water end is blocked and affects the normal water flow.

I, the hot water temperature is not enough.

Limited to high temperature, not a quality problem

1. The product is limited to high temperature 45 to 49 ℃, no high temperature water out (normal).

2. The pressure difference between cold and hot water is large. Generally, the pressure of cold water is large, resulting in low temperature.

J, common failure situation of gas water heaters

No ignition, or intermittent ignition. This situation will cause the water to be cold or hot.

The main reason is

1. The temperature and flow rate of the water heater are not enough. Treatment: Adjust the gas water heater to a large flow rate and increase the temperature to above 55°C, and the flame is moderate to high.

2. If the water pressure of the water supply is very low, we recommended the customer install a booster pump additional.
