What kind of shower do you have?
Mix shower
Hybrid showers simply mix hot and cold water from home supplies. They don't pump water, they don't heat it. The hot water is heated by your boiler, just like the hot water in any faucet. Hybrid showers don't need electricity, they just need to be connected to hot and cold water pipes. Some hybrid showers are thermostatic hybrid showers and have a thermostatic valve that keeps the temperature constant even if the flow of hot and cold water changes (for example, if someone flushes the toilet and the flow of cold water to the shower decreases, the valve automatically slows down the hot water to keep the temperature of the shower head constant). You can tell if your hybrid shower has a thermostatic valve because it usually has a stop button to prevent you from accidentally setting the temperature too high. Hybrid showers consist solely of control knobs on the wall or as part of a bathtub faucet, while electric or electric showers consist of boxes mounted on the wall.
Both types of showers require an electrical supply, although "electric shower" usually refers to a heated shower and sometimes pumping water, while "power shower" usually refers to a shower that takes hot water from a boiler, so it just pumps water, not heating it. In some houses, the hot water pressure upstairs is not enough for showers, so electric showers are used to heat (high pressure) cold water. Electric and electric showers have a box on the wall with flow and temperature controls.
Thermostatic Shower: If the temperature of your constant temperature shower continues to fluctuate wildly (becoming scalding hot or cold), the thermostat may need to be replaced. Cartridges are not cheap, usually around £75, but can be replaced within an hour.
Electric and power showers: It's worth checking to see if the shower head is clogged with scale. Scale-clogged Shower Heads can reduce water flow and prevent some electric showers from working (they require a minimum flow rate to work). Try to remove the shower head from the hose. If the shower is working properly without a shower head, the shower head is reducing flow and needs to be cleaned. If there are small rubber nozzles on the head, simply push your fingernail hard through each nozzle to release the scale. If this is not possible, buy some scale remover from the supermarket and treat your shower head according to the instructions.
